Lot #314 - Ford F-1 Pickup Truck-VIN 98RC153341- Restored Carolina '49 Ford F-1 Pickup Truck. Do you think the color of this truck looks like Department of Transportation trucks? It's because it was ordered that way in 1949. The seller's uncle,
G. L. Kiser of Fort Mill, South Carolina, worked for the DOT in '49, and while ordering some trucks for the DOT, he ordered one for himself, to get the state's discount, of course. Back in those days, a pickup wasn't a "cowboy Cadillac" as they are today, they were work vehicles, so the color didn't really matter. Mr. Kiser took delivery of his DOT Yellow Ford on February 17, 1949 at Taylor Motor Company in nearby Chester, SC. The truck has remained in the same family since then and the original bill-of-sale from 1949 is included. The seller acquired his uncle's pickup and did a frame-off restoration in the early 90's. Truck has been garaged since then according to the seller. Seller also says that original parts such as the original jack, radio, heater, and controls are still in the truck. Seller maintains the truck has 40,892 original miles since new, and that's very likely correct, but will be sold "mileage exempt" because of age. Pickup trucks are "HOT" now! It is incredible to find one with documented one-family history back to new..... Truck is located in South Carolina.
